Matthew Stump Appointed Vice Chairman of AWO Coastal Safety Committee

MUSKEGON, Michigan - Andrie Inc. is pleased to announce that Matthew Stump was recently appointed Vice Chairman of American Waterways Operators (AWO) Coastal Safety Committee.  AWO has two safety committees consisting of a Coastal and Interregion (inland) group.

Matt has been a member of AWO safety steering committees and workgroups since Andrie joined AWO. He brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience to the position.

The Coastal Safety Committee addresses safety issues and concerns pertaining to open water operations, such as near misses and safety statistics. Matt’s main duties as Vice Chairman include supporting the Chairman in planning safety committee meetings, arranging speakers and topics as well as reviewing presentations. He also works together with the AWO Interregion Safety Committee with common issues such as man-overboard and training.  Matt is also responsible for carrying out safety plans developed by the AWO Executive Board.

In his new position, Matt will be able to bring new ideas and concerns of the Great Lakes region to the Coastal Safety Committee. In turn, these can become part of AWO’s focus in the towing industry. Through Matt, Andrie will have an opportunity to bring regional concepts and issues to a national level.

AWO is a national trade association representing the owners and operators of tugboats, towboats, and barges serving the waterborne commerce of the United States.
